Hello Faithful Volunteers!

We would like to officially welcome you and thank you all for signing up to volunteer for this years Superior 100, 50 and 26.2 mile trail races! Superior was founded in 1991 and is one of the toughest, oldest, best organized, best staffed and most well reputed trail races in the country! Between the 3 distances we are super excited to be hosting around 600 runners from 30+ states and 5 countries!  We have about 150 volunteers registered helping fill over 250 volunteer positions!

We have had communication with most of you by this point and just wanted to get a quick update out as the race is quickly approaching! PLEASE NOTE THAT A MORE COMPREHENSIVE EMAIL WILL BE COMING OUT WITHIN THE NEXT 10 DAYS WITH MORE SPECIFICS AND ANY VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT REVISIONS / ADDITIONS.

Volunteer Assignments,:
Preliminary volunteer assignments have been made and they are available to view HERE http://fall.superiortrailrace.com/volunteer-assignments/  – you can search and sort by name and volunteer position, please note that many of you have more than one assignment / job – please let us know if we have gotten anything wrong, assigned you to too much or if you want more to do more / take on additional assignments!  Volunteers are assigned to Volunteer Jobs - after you take a look at what you have been assigned to, you can learn more about your job HERE http://fall.superiortrailrace.com/volunteers/resources/volunteer-jobs/ - also be sure to review the website in its entirety, you can learn much there! Just an FYI, we are still looking for a qualified / experienced aid station captain for Temperance River from open (12:00AM Saturday) until at least the early AM when we have another individual that can take over.  Aid station captains, take a look at who you have been assigned, if you feel you need more help feel free to recruit (and have anyone you recruit sign up on the website) or let us know and we will look for more help.

Trail Markers and Trail Sweepers Specific:
Your names are on the volunteer assignment page but specific volunteer assignments for these positions will be made by our Marking and Sweeping Coordinator Matt Long and will be emailed to you (and will be available on the website) within the next 10 days or so – generally speaking markers will all need to be available to meet at Caribou Highlands on Thursday Sept 4th at 6:30 AM and be available until evening. Sweepers, the idea is that you are available for multiple sections on both Friday, Friday-Overnight and Saturday until the finish.  
At this time we do not need any more trail markers or sweepers (unless anyone knows of someone that is looking to get involved with this on a long term basis).

HAM Radio Operators Specific:
Your information is on the volunteer assignment page but specific volunteer assignments for these positions are made by our HAM Radio Coordinators Rick and Jayne Johnson so if you have assignment specific questions please contact Rick or Jayne.

So as stated, the plan is coming together nicely, we are adding last minute volunteers and making tweaks to assignments for about the next week then revised volunteer assignments and more specifics will be coming out including information on (free / communal) lodging options for volunteers should you need it – in the meantime should you have any questions, please email or call me!
